LIFE AT A STONE AGE SETTLEMENT
The playground is located with stunning views over the Alta Fjord and outside the Alta Museum - World Heritage Rock Art Centre.
Alta’s World Heritage consists of rock carvings and rock paintings, the oldest more than 7000 years old. The rock art was created over a period of 5000 years. During that period, Alta was an important meeting place for people both from the coastal and inland regions.
The playground is inspired by the unique story of the place and the rock carvings found there. The structures set the scene of an ancient settlement with sculptures that interprete rock carvings of a reindeer and a hunter-gatherer settlement with a tent and boat.
