The project
Gentofte Municipality announced a design competition in March 2012 for four selected playground companies to renovate their existing public playground in Nymosen.
A public park with a moor, forest and residential around.

Their theme was that it should be motor challenging as well as that it should not be too crazy in colours.
We came up with the Roly Poly because it relate to the humid environment and the forest floor, and it is really a creature we don’t see enough.

Roly Poly

With our new playground “Roly Poly” we have chosen to take words and phrases into the game.
We have done this by cutting 14. small sentences with information in various places around the playground that children can find.
It’s fun for kids to get small detailled informations depending where they are on the playground.

1. Did you know that the Rolly Polly breathe through gills.
2. The Roly Poly can be up to 4 years old.
3. The female can not lay eggs until she is 2 years old.
It is easy to underestimate the Rolly Polly, you shouldn`t, because it is very special.
